Getting Started
Licker is a short-form video social media platform built around three core values: fighting bias through the Bridge Algorithm, protecting mental health, and verifying sources. It's designed to be a platform that actually cares β about your wellbeing and the health of public discourse.
Licker is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Head to the Download section on our homepage to get the latest links. The app is built natively β Swift + SwiftUI for iOS, Kotlin + Jetpack Compose for Android.
Yes β Licker is completely free to download and use. We are building a sustainable model that does not rely on exploiting your attention or personal data. Future premium tiers may be introduced, but the core experience will always remain free.
Download the app and tap "Sign up." You can create an account using your email address. We verify your age as part of sign-up through our Real Age Protection system to keep younger users safe.
Features
The Bridge Algorithm is Licker's core recommendation system. Unlike traditional algorithms that push you further into your existing viewpoints to maximise engagement, the Bridge Algorithm intentionally surfaces diverse perspectives and content from outside your usual bubble β helping reduce echo chambers and political polarisation over time.
Creators can attach citations and source links directly to their posts. Licker's moderation system reviews sourced claims and labels content accordingly. Posts making factual claims without evidence are flagged, and our community-driven review process helps surface accurate information.
Licker has several built-in protections: screen time reminders, content sensitivity labels, a break prompt after extended sessions, and filtering options for content categories that may be harmful. We do not use dark patterns designed to keep you scrolling against your own interests.
Real Age Protection is our age-verification system that ensures users who sign up as minors are protected from age-inappropriate content and features. It also prevents adults from accessing children's spaces within the platform.
Account & Privacy
On this website, go to Account Settings β Security β Change Password. In the app, go to Profile β Settings β Security. You'll need to enter your current password to confirm the change.
In Account Settings β Privacy, toggle off "Public Profile." When your profile is private, only approved followers can see your content. You can also manage discoverability by turning off "Show in Search."
Yes. Go to Account Settings β Data & Privacy β Request My Data. Your data export will be downloaded immediately as a JSON file and you'll receive an email confirmation.
Go to Account Settings β Data & Privacy β Delete My Account. Account deletion is permanent and may take up to 30 days to fully process. You will receive an email confirmation once the request has been submitted.
Content & Safety
In the app, tap the three-dot menu (β―) on any post and select "Report." For user profiles, tap the flag icon. Reports go directly to our moderation team and are reviewed promptly. You can track the status of your reports in your account settings.
Licker prohibits content that: promotes violence or self-harm, contains hate speech or discrimination, involves minors in sexual contexts, spreads deliberate misinformation, or violates our Community Guidelines. For a full list, see our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Visit the user's profile in the app, tap the three-dot menu, and select "Block." Blocked users cannot view your profile, follow you, or interact with your content. You can manage your blocked list in Settings β Privacy β Blocked Users.
Creators
Post consistently, use accurate source citations to build trust, and engage genuinely with comments. Licker's Bridge Algorithm rewards content that resonates across different communities β so creating thoughtful, balanced content tends to reach a wider audience than purely polarising content.
Creator monetisation is on our roadmap. We are designing a system that rewards quality and reach without incentivising outrage or misinformation. Interested creators can join our early access list by submitting feedback through our feedback page.
When creating a post in the app, tap the "Sources" button in the editor toolbar. You can add URLs to supporting articles, studies, or other credible references. Posts with verified sources receive a Source Verified badge, which increases trust and reach.
