We built Licker to care about people — and that includes your privacy. We collect only what we need, we never sell your data, and we give you real control over your information.
1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information (name, email address, date of birth, username)
- Profile details (bio, profile picture, links)
- Content you post (videos, captions, comments, sources)
- Messages you send to other users
- Information you provide when contacting support
Information collected automatically:
- Device information (device type, operating system, unique device identifiers)
- Usage data (videos watched, interactions, time spent in app)
- Log data (IP address, access times, pages viewed)
- Location data (general region only, unless you grant precise location permission)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform
- Personalize your feed using the Bridge Algorithm
- Protect mental health by detecting heavy negative content consumption
- Enforce age-appropriate content restrictions
- Communicate with you about your account and updates
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety violations
- Comply with legal obligations
4. The Bridge Algorithm & Your Data
Our Bridge Algorithm uses your viewing history and interaction patterns to identify when your feed may be showing you one-sided content. This processing happens to serve your interests — to broaden your perspective — and not to manipulate you into spending more time on the app.
You can view and reset your content preferences at any time from your account settings.
5. Mental Health Protections
Licker monitors patterns of heavy negative content consumption in order to automatically balance your feed with uplifting or neutral content. This data is processed only for your wellbeing and is never shared with advertisers or third parties.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- With your consent — when you explicitly agree to sharing
- Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the Platform (hosting, analytics, fraud detection), bound by strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger or acquisition, with advance notice to users
Your public profile, posts, and username are visible to other users by default. You can adjust your privacy settings at any time.
7. Age Protection & Children's Privacy
Licker is not intended for children under 13. Users aged 13–15 have their content visible only to mutual followers. Users aged 16–17 have additional content restrictions applied automatically. We take child safety seriously and will promptly remove any underage accounts we become aware of.

8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Opt-out — opt out of certain types of data processing

9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform. When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate safety purposes.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your data seriously.
11. International Users
Licker is operated from the United States. If you use the Platform from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US or other countries. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable law, including GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses for users in the European Economic Area.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
